Weekend update

Brown Almighty started the ball rolling in the best possible fashion with a win at Arlington yesterday as Mike Stidham is set to saddle a total of seven horses over July 4th weekend.

Brown Almighty, owned by a consortium of owners, suffered a bit of a rough passage on his way to victory yesterday. After encountering a thicket of horses at the top of the stretch, Brown Almighty under jockey James Graham extricated himself from the melee, sluicing home to record a cozy four-and-a-half length win.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Stidham saddles Liz Pendens in the $75,000 Arlington Sprint Stakes – a race run over a lickety-split five-and-a-half furlongs. Lovely Liz Pendens, under Carlos Marques Jr. faces a total of seven other rivals, and she ‘s an early 8/1 shot on the morning line.

Today at Arlington, Stidham is represented by Hubbala Hubbala and Follow That Kitten. Tomorrow, Liz Pendens enjoys the support of Forest Ely, E.M. Maximus and St James Park on the undercard, while Adellusion is his sole runner on Sunday.

Check back in again at the start of next week for a recap of the weekend action.
