Helen Kathleen a name to remember

At the end of another solid weekend of action, Helen Kathleen left with the MVP award from the Mike Stidham stable with another resounding victory at Arlington.

Jockey James Graham rode a perfect race on the three-year-old filly by Candy Ride, sitting patiently mid pack for much of the way before producing her with a steady run down the stretch. She took command at the furlong marker and kicked clear for a comfortable two-length win at the wire.

Owned by Gary Biszantz, Helen Kathleen was claiming her second win in a row from only four lifetime starts and is clearly a young lady fast on the improve. It would come as a surprise to few to see her compete for a little black type before the season’s through.

It looks like it’s going to be a busy week for Stidham at Del Mar. Kicking things off Wednesday is Local One Thirty while George’s Peach is scheduled to go to post Thursday. Looking for a repeat performance of her barnstorming Grade II San Clemente victory is Istanford who lines up in the Sandy Blue Handicap Friday.

Check back in again later this week for a round up of all the weekend action.
