Fresh from yet another unforgettable weekend of stake race action, Mike Stidham is armed and ready to continue the trend with a whole batallion of runners all over the joint this weekend.
The Grade III Arlington-Washington Saturday promises to be a cracker of a two-year-old race, and Stidham has two entered in the $125,000 contest – Ike Walker and One Go All Go. One Go All Go, by Fairbanks, is having only his second career start, while Ike Walker, a son of Bellamy Road, is having his third after breaking his maiden last time out in impressive fashion. Jockeys Channing Hill and Timothy Thornton take the mounts on Stidham’s exciting duo.
Over at Louisiana Downs, Jessica’s Star lines up in the Grade II Super Derby worth a mouth-watering $400,000. Jessica’s Star has enjoyed a season and a half already, what with victories in the Prairie Mile Stakes and Grade III Iowa Derby. And after an honorable second last time out in the Ohio Derby, Jessica’s Star is a morning line 3/1 chance to quickly return to winning ways. Eleven are scheduled to go to post, and James Graham takes the mount.
Elsewhere, St James Park runs at Arlington tomorrow, while on Saturday, If I Ever is entered on Chicago’s big race undercard. On Sunday, Gumdrop and If I Ever hold engagements.
Betterthandiamonds is a scheduled runner on a lucrative card at Kentucky Downs Saturday while Notte d’Oro represents the yard at Churchill Downs Sunday.
Check back in again next week for a round-up of the weekend action.
