Her Emmynency, one of Mike Stidham’s leading lights this year, is out of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf having been struck down with colitis.
Her Emmynency was taken ill on Sunday with a spiked temperature, and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment. Hilary Pridham, Mike Stidham’s assistant, said that while Her Emmynency continues to be watched closely, she appears happier and is now in a much more comfortable condition. The Stidham team and medical staff are all very hopeful that she’ll make a full recovery.
“We won’t rush her back. These things take time,” said Pridham, who stressed that Her Emmynency is receiving the very best medical care and attention. “But we’re all very hopeful that she’ll make up into a nice three-year-old.”
The show, they say, must go on, and Stidham has a flurry of runners over the next three days.
At Keeneland today, he runs Lookingoutforyou and Rockabye Barry. Tomorrow it’s the turn of Tough Business, Lookingoutforyou, Notte d’Oro and Bobblehead at Keeneland, while Forest Elf is entered over at Indiana Grand Race Course.
On Friday at Keeneland, Shoe Jo and Fantasize are entered, while South Beach Dancer and Go Doug Go head the team at Hawthorne.
Check back in again later this week for the weekend update.
