Indygo almost goes in at Remington

The weekend may have drawn a blank on the winners front for Mike Stidham, but the horses by and large performed well – especially Indygo Bo, who finished runner-up in the $50,000 Razorback Futurity at Remington Park on Saturday.

Indygo Bo, under jockey M Berry, broke reasonably well, and sat behind the heels of the leaders before being brought into contention at the top of the stretch. Making relentless headway down the straight, Indygo Bo found himself in clear second place at the wire – but he was no match for the winner, Touchdown Arkansas, who very much had the run of the race.

Still, it was a fine run from owner Mark Breen’s two-year-old son of Indygo Shiner, who was having just his third career start. After a slightly disappointing effort last time out, he showed this time that he remains very much a young colt with a rosy future.

Stidham has a scattering of runners at Churchill Downs this week: Rockabye Barry on Wednesday, and Inavanti and Cake Maker on Thursday.

Check back in again later this week for a look ahead to the weekend runners.
