Mike Stidham has fairly sprinted out of the blocks at Fair Grounds this year, already sending out two winners in the last two days, thanks to Fantasize and Toutsie Rules’ gutsy performances. And he’s hoping that stable stalwart, Ground Transport, can continue that fine run of form when he lines up in the Swatara Stakes at Penn National today.
Fans of the old boy–none more enthusiastic than Kim Langston–have been eagerly awaiting his appearance in the $100,000 race all week, what with the contest being rerouted from Wednesday to today. Ground Transport faces another ten contenders, and the Morning Line 7-2 shot has the able assistance of jockey Trevor McCarthy in the saddle.
Over at Fair Grounds, Stidham has three runners this weekend in a bid to capitalize on his scorching start at the Louisiana track. Today, Tough Business is his sole representative, while Squatty and If I Ever are scheduled to line up tomorrow.
Check back in again at the start of next week for a round-up of the weekend action, as well as to hear Stidham’s views on the performances of Fantasize and Toutsie Rules.
