The quintet of runners that Mike Stidham sends out over the next three days at Fair Grounds contains a couple of rather eye-catching newcomers in today.
Liberty Bond, owned by Team Valor, is a regally bred two-year-old filly by War Front, out of a half-sister to the Grade I winning Doctor Zic. Word from the barn is that Liberty Bond has been doing everything right at home, and a nice run is expected on her debut.
The other newcomer is Jockamo’s Song, a two-year-old gelding by Half Ours. Owned by the Dare to Dream Stable, Jockamo’s Song is another expected to know his stuff when he lines up this afternoon.
Stidham has one other runner today, Premura, also looking to shrug the monkey from her back. While he has Forest Elf in tomorrow, as well as Hadrian in Sunday.
A special mention must be given to Song to You, who so narrowly missed out on victory by a neck yesterday. Song to You looked all over the likely winner as he and Flashy Sunrise battled down the stretch, but the wire is where it matters, and Song to You was just edged out of it by the narrowest of margins as they whizzed past the winning post. Recompense waits just around the corner.
I should also mention that our new million dollar recruit, Leigh Court, has been catching the photographer’s eyes this week. For a selection of some of her best pics–courtesy of Mikey Adolphson, David Bailey’s long lost brother–don’t forget to check out our Twitter handle: @stidhamracing.
What is more, don’t forget to check back in again next week for a round-up of all the weekend action.
