So near and yet so far…

I Dazzle’s bid to see the year out with a victory in the Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Stakes may have only just been foiled, but Mike Stidham was nonetheless delighted with her performance.

“I Dazzle gave her typically game performance, but unfortunately she was positioned too far back and was given too much to do, sent wide around both turns,” Stidham said. “It compromised her chances, but you can always count on her to do her best, and she ran a great race to finish second.”

Fans of the popular mare can expect to see more of their idol in the near future, too. “We’ll continue on with her,” Stidham added. “There’s lots of Louisiana-bred races for her that she can run in.”

Later this week, Stidham sends out two of his exciting up-and-comers back into the fray when Fantasize and Indygo Bo reappear Friday at Fair Grounds. Fantasize broke his maiden impressively last time out, while Indygo Bo finished second in the Razorback Futurity last time out.

“Indygo Bo will have his first start on the turf if the weather holds out,” Stidham said. “He ran well on the polytrack first time out, but I expect both of them to run well.”

Stidham also had news of One Time Only, entered in the Blushing K.D. Stakes Thursday at Fair Grounds. “She’s having her first start for us, and we’re looking to get a bit of black type with her. So, if she performs anywhere near the places, we’ll be happy.”

Stidham’s other runners Thursday include Notte d’Oro, Masquerade and Gucci Brown, while the Friday team is made up of Aftermarketspoiler and Skirts on Fire.

Check back in again later this week for a round-up of the week’s action, and a look ahead to the weekend.
