The Stidham stable got off to a flying start this weekend when Holiday Touch broke his maiden today at Fair Grounds.
Mark Breen’s son of Harlen’s Holiday broke smart under jockey Florent Geroux, who rode a smart race on the heels of the leaders. The home stretch was where Geroux asked Holiday Touch all the serious questions though, and his mount answered them unequivocally, rallying to a half-length victory – his first in a five-race career.
Tomorrow, Stidham sends Swift Sword and Profluent into battle at Fair Grounds, while Lawly’s Girl flies the stable flag over at Oaklawn Park.
We also have news of one of Stidham standard bearers, Jessica’s Star. The winner of the Grade III Iowa Derby last season, Jessica’s Star has returned to Stidham’s care after a little R&R, and he’s settled back into his daily routine in fine fashion – though just cantering at the moment.
Don’t forget to check back in again next week for a Sunday update, and a look ahead.
