The Stidham barn heads into the weekend on the back of a nice win yesterday, courtesy of Masquerade.
Owned by M and M Thoroughbred Partners, Masquerade couldn’t have broken from the gates faster if her tail was on fire, and there she stayed for the remainder of the race under a ride full of confidence and cunning by jockey Florent Geroux.
What an old warhorse Masquerade has proven for the Stidham barn over the years. And this six-year-old daughter of Silent Name was recording her first victory since June of 2013, after a number of fine efforts against stake race performers.
Talking of stake races, tomorrow sees the Jersey Lilly run at Sam Houston – a race Stidham’s Every Way finished second in last year. Stidham’s hoping to make amends for that eclipse by fielding this year One Time Only and I Dazzle in the $50,000 race. If the morning line is any accurate guide, I Dazzle holds a serious squeak at 7-2.
Gucci Brown and Profluent carry the Stidham banner at Fair Grounds the day after.
Don’t forget to check back in next week for a review of the weekend action.
