With one stakes win already under his belt, Ike Walker is seeking another when he lines up in the Golden Circle Stakes at Prairie Meadows Friday.
Dawn and Ike Thrash’s three-year-old son of Bellamy Road faces a total of eight runners in the $75,000 race over six furlongs. And it looks a tidy little contest, with Recount–beaten only once in four starts–heading the betting. Nevertheless, Ike Walker has the able services of jockey Alex Birzer in the saddle, and word from the barn is that he will give a good account of himself.
Ike Walker is one of quite a number of runners from the Stidham barn this week, which swoops en masse upon Churchill Downs.
Premura runs tomorrow at the Kentucky track, while on Friday Stidham unleashes three: Titfortat, Seoul Gold and Liberty Bond.
Also on Friday, Fancy Ticket is honored with becoming Stidham’s first runner at this year’s Arlington meet.
Don’t forget to check back in later this week for a review of the week’s action, as well as a look ahead to the weekend.
