Katie does it again and all the stable’s runners ran with great merit over a weekend to remember for the Stidham stable.
The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly Katie’s Eyes, who produced a powerhouse performance to win the $65,000 Unbridled Sidney Stakes at Churchill Downs. Given a peach of a ride by jockey Florent Geroux, who sat patiently on Katie’s Eyes mid-pack for much of the race, as the field swooped on the final furlong, Katie’s Eyes deployed the rocket-boosters, swooping past her dumbstruck competitors en route to an ultimately cozy one-and-a-quarter length victory at the wire.
Owned by Dawn and Ike Thrash and Janet and Sam Alley, Katie’s Eyes was maintaining her one-hundred percent record since joining the Stidham barn, and word from the barn is that Stidham is eyeing up the Grade III Royal North Stakes at Woodbine July 26 for his exciting flying filly.
The weekend started with a bang Friday when Thestarvingartist, owned by The Farm on 4 LLC and Brent Gasaway, and La Luna Rouge, owned by Feel The Thunder Stable, Patty Kanter and Stidham himself, made it a two-from-two double-whammy for the barn at Arlington.
One day later at Arlington, Hadrian knuckled out a convincing win for Team Valor International and Gary Barber.
At Churchill Downs Sunday, Warriorscmoutoplay added to his fine win last time out when showing great heart to hold on for the win for owners Feel The Thunder Stable, Herman, Breeheim, and Haynes Stables LLC.
As to the week ahead, Stidham sends Sylvia’s Warrior to Indiana Grand Race Course tomorrow, with fingers firmly crossed that the great form of the table continues unabated.
Don’t forget to check back in again later this week for a preview of the weekend action.
