While the eyes of the nation will be on Pimlico this afternoon, that doesn’t mean the racing world as a whole grinds to a halt, for the eyes of those from the Stidham barn will be focused on Churchill Downs today, where the big man heads with runners in both divisions of the Keertana Stakes.
Stellaris runs in the first division of the $65,000 race, ran over a mile and three eighths on the turf. Last year’s Grade I Del Mar Oaks runner-up, Stellaris faces eight other rivals as she seeks to get her 2015 season well and truly underway after a couple of placed performances at Fair Grounds and Keeneland respectively. James Graham takes the mount.
Notte d’Oro carries the Stidham flag in the second division of the race. Notte d’Oro started the year with a bang, claiming the Marie G. Krantz Memorial Handicap at Fair Grounds in fine fashion. In her quest for some more valuable black type, Notte do’Oro faces ten other rivals today. And Brian Hernandez takes the mount.
Kids Rule and Rebel Rebel comprise Stidham’s team over at Arlington today, while the one and only Zubi Zubi Zu struts her stuff at the Chicago track tomorrow.
A special mention must go to Sylvia’s Warrior, who absolutely hosed up at Indiana Grand Race Course earlier this week. Owned by Good Stuff Stable, Feel The Thunder Stable and David Breheim, Sylvia’s Warrior was breaking his maiden on only his second attempt, and a bright future surely awaits for this son of Majestic Warrior.
Don’t forget to check back in again next week for a round up of the weekend action.
