Stidham sent two runners to Prairie Meadows Monday, and both of them returned victorious!
The MVP award surely goes to Jessica’s Star, who got his 2015 season bang on track again with a resounding victory in the $75,000 Jim Rasmussen Stakes.
A greyhound out of the gates, Jessica’s Star stalked the leader for much of the way, asserting himself down the home stretch before forging to a rather comfortable length victory at the wire.
Mark Breen’s son of Magna Graduate now has five wins next to his name and $409,760 in career earnings. And with this lovely confidence booster under his belt, chances are, the year ahead contains yet more treasures for this tough warrior.
Royal and Ready looked a nice horse for the future when shrugging the monkey from his back on only his second racecourse appearance.
Owner Roy Gottlieb’s three-year-old son of More Than Ready flew down the stretch from the back of the pack to whizz past the post a length to the good. Like Jessica’s Star before him, the year promises to hold all sorts of goodies for this young colt.
As to the rest of the week, Stidham has Gucci Brown in at Churchill Downs, and Aftermarketspoiler, La Bruna Forte and Kingston Terrace at Arlington.
Check back in again soon for a look ahead to the weekend action.
