The aptly named The Zip Zip Man made the brightest possible start to his career yesterday when breaking his maiden at the first time of asking at Arlington, launching, in the process, a busy weekend for the stable.
On the receiving end of a bit of argy-bargy coming out of the gates, The Zip Zip Man was settled mid pack by jockey Florent Geroux. At the top of the stretch, Geroux brought his his mount onto the heels of the long-time leader before they both surged clear in the final furlong to win by a length.
Owned by Oliver Tait, The Zip Zip Man is a speedy son of City Zip. And both Tait and Stidham sure look to have a Zippy and precocious two-year-old to have fun with this year.
As to Stidham’s weekend runners, it’s going to be another busy few days for the barn.
Today at Arlington, Her Emmynency makes her eagerly awaited seasonal debut, while Voluptuous, La Bruna Forte and Out of Mischief make up the rest of the runners. Gucci Brown represents the stable over at Prairie Meadows.
Follow the Kitten, Liberty Bond and Ultimate Reward make up the Stidham contingent tomorrow at Arlington, while Infinite Magic heads to Churchill Downs.
Check back in again next week for a review of the weekend action.
