Her Emmynency’s return to competitive action in 2015 couldn’t have gone any smoother when she secured a fine win at Arlington yesterday.
Her Emmynency showed that the engine still runs strong when swooping with a rattling run down the stretch at Arlington to prevail by a head at the wire under jockey Florent Geroux, the front two well clear of the third horse home.
After suffering from an attack of colic over the winter, Her Emmynency has been nursed back to health patiently by Stidham. And while this was her first run of the year, she still remains lightly raced. From only three starts last year, the three year-old daughter of Successful Appeal won the Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita after finishing second in the Grade I Del Mar Debutante at Del Mar.
A return to that sort of company surely beckons for Dawn and Ike Thrash’s talented filly.
After a busy weekend, the Stidham stable lies dormant until Thursday, when Infinite Magic heads to Churchill Downs, while La Bruna Forte and La Bruna Rouge both line up at Arlington Friday.
Don’t forget to check back in again with us later this week.
