Hopes high that Laurel wreaths Stidham stable with winners

The Stidham horses arrived at Laurel Park en masse last week, and hopes are high that the beautiful Maryland track will prove a happy hunting ground for the Stidham barn – especially if events over the weekend are anything to go by.

“It’s a great training facility,” said assistant Mitch Dennison. “They have a very nice cushioned main track, and the track management are awesome. They really try to help you. As for the turf course, I’ve probably never seen another turf course this good.”

Mitch has around 34 horses at Laurel Park under his care – a nice mix of young and old. “Needless to say, we’re expecting a successful meet. It’s great to expand our presence here on the east coast.”

As for events over the past weekend, the Stidham stable win-machine ratcheted another couple of victories. On Saturday, Aftermarketspoiler got on the score-board early at Laurel Park, with a determined win for owners West Point Thoroughbreds.

A day later at Laurel, Dreams on Parade produced a resounding performance to break her maiden in fine fashion for owner Phillip Maas. This filly looks the sort to keep on improving, what with a nice confidence booster under her belt.

An honorable mention must go to Toutsie Rules, who finished a close third in the Grade III Charles Town Oaks Stakes for a conglomerate of owners: Hilary Pridham, Haynes Stables LLC, Angela Ellis and Marette Farrell.

And what about the week ahead? Laurel’s the place to be for fans of the stable:

Entered Thursday at Laurel: Profluent, Cassis and Kingston Terrace.

On Thursday at Arlington:Premura, Colour Party and General Election. We might also see Joe Mambo at Arlington Friday, too.
