A nice double on Saturday sees the Stidham stable still leading the pack at Fair Gounds, with 21 winners and $701,590 in the kitty.
The star of the show was Shaken, who produced a stunning performance to break her maiden for owner-breeder Mark Stansell. A beautiful three-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo, Shaken didn’t get the best of breaks from the gate, but down the stretch she showed a fine attitude under jockey Brian Hernandez to prevail by a length and a half. This really was a most taking run, and Stidham looks to have yet another potential stake-race performing filly on his hands.
The other winner of the day was Voluptuous, who was given a nicely judged ride by jockey Jose Valdivia to win by a neck. Owned by John and Susan Moore, Voluptuous was a little keen at the off, but Valdivia kept enough in the tank to secure a tidy win where it mattered.
Here’s the other week’s entries:
Dewey Lake – Race 6, Claiming $30,000
Lou – Race 8, Joseph E. Spanky Broussard Overnight Stakes
