The winners keep coming…

As Fair Grounds winds inexorably towards its seasonal close, the Stidham barn remains in flying form, with a couple of winners this week alone.

Yesterday, Rapid Rhythm gained her second win in a row, coming with a rare late rattle under jockey James Graham to score a half-length victory for owners DARRS, Inc. This four-year daughter of Successful Appeal is as honest as they come, and she’s sure to keep giving her lucky owners plenty more to smile about.

Today, War Point did the business tidily for owner William Kanter. Again, nearer last than first to begin with, this four-year-old son of War Chant showed a good attitude down the stretch to prevail under jockey Mitchell Murrill. And, like Rapid Rhythm, War Point should continue to pay his way.

As for the weekend, the potential stars of the show could be Rapid Rhythm, Warriorscmoutoplay, or Zipessa, all of whom are entered in the Big Easy Overnight Stakes – a $50,000 race over five and a half furlongs at Fair Grounds tomorrow. A large field of 13 are scheduled to line up, and while no stake races are easy to win, all three Stidham superstars in with a squeak, should they line up on race day.
