Arlington’s summer season began last week, and surprise surprise, guess who’s wasted absolutely no time making their mark at the Chicago track?
Two wins last Friday, and another one Sunday, mean that the Stidham name is atop the trainers standings there (getting to be rather repetitive, isn’t it!), and he’s already grabbed $60,250 in prize money. Oh yeah, and they’re in the money 89 percent of the time!
New Orleans Lady got the ball rolling with a nice maiden win under Jose Valdivia on only her second start. Owned by Twin Creeks Racing Stables, New Orleans Lady (a three-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song) broke sharply near the lead and never saw the nostril of another horse.
She looks an exciting sort to go to war with over the summer.
Then came the turn of Thundergram, winning on his first start for Stidam. Owned by David Ross’ DARRS Inc., Thundergram has already had a lot of starts, but he looked revitalized under Christopher Emigh, always contesting for the lead before inching ahead where it matters.
More wins are surely on the cards for this grizzled warrior.
On Sunday, Kingston Terrace, thrice a winner at Arlington last year, proved her liking for the course with an authoritative victory under Jose Valdivia. Owned by Michael Faber’s Dare to Dream Stable, Kingston Terrace’s looks sure to add to that tally again this summer – what a grand old servant she’s been to connections!
