Tapanna started the weekend for the Stidham stable in the best possible way with a fast finishing flourish today at Arlington.
Owned by Feel the Thunder Stable, Tapanna flew home under jockey Mitchell Murrill to record a 15th (and second straight) victory of his career. And this eight-year-old son of Tapit is yet another advertisement for Stidham’s rare ability to keep older horses in peak mental condition.
As for the weekend ahead, it has the potential to prove another lucrative one for the stable.
Zipessa lines up tomorrow in the Grade III Old Forester Mint Julep Handicap at Churchill Downs. The $100,000 race has attracted ten runners, and Zipessa (a lightly raced daughter of City Zip) is seeking her fourth career victory, this time under jockey Mitchell Murrill.
At Canterbury Park tomorrow, Siralen is one of nine to go to post in the $75,000 Northbound Pride Oaks. This twice raced daughter of Majestic Warrior has Alex Canchari in the saddle, and she’s a 6-1 shot on the Morning Line.
