More Godolphin gold!

The gorgeously bred two-year-old filly Lapinski made a winning debut for Godolphin yesterday at Arlington, further reinforcing the fine relationship Stidham has forged this year with the powerhouse stable.

By Street Cry out of a half-sister to the magnificent Bernardini, Lapinski made quite the impression on her racecourse bow, kept wide by jockey Carlos Marquez for much of the way before showing guts and class to rundown the leaders to prevail by a nose.

One thing’s for sure, Lapinski will come on leaps and bounds for that run, and a bright future surely lies ahead for this regally bred young filly.

As to the weekend, Stidham is represented by Ducat in the $40,000 Careless Navigator Stakes at Canterbury Park tomorrow. The twice raced Ducat finished fourth in the Prairie Gold Juvenile Stakes last time out, but he was a fine winner on his debut, and a bold bid is expected tomorrow – he’s a Morning Line 7-2 shot under jockey Alex Canchari.
