Princess Lu Lu enjoyed quite the coronation on her racecourse debut today, showing great tenacity under jockey Carlos Marquez Jr. to knuckle out a win at Arlington – a first win, too, for owner Rick Kanter’s Stallionaire Enterprises!
This two-year-old daughter of Harlen’s Holiday showed cool, class and courage to prevail by three-quarters-of-a-length over a tenacious rival, and the sky’s the limit for this well bred and well put together young filly. What’s more, this win marks a first for Stallionaire Enterprises, who has nine horses in total with Stidham. Good day all round!
Now onto the weekend, and the Stidham barn is seeking Grade I glory across the border for Godolphin!
Lapinski is one of 14 to line up in the Grade I Natalma Stakes at Woodbine tomorrow – a $250,000 race for two-year-olds fillies over a mile. Lapinski, a daughter of Street Cry, showed guts on her debut at Arlington, winning by a nose. But hopes are high in the barn that she can belie her inexperience and odds of 20-1 to give a good account of herself. Carlos Marquez Jr. rides.
“This one turn mile and added distance should help,” said Hilary Pridham. “We’re looking for a good effort from her.”
