Robert Evans’ flying wunder-mare Rapid Rhythm made it five-from-five on the Fair Grounds turf, when rallying to a sublime win in yesterday’s Mardi Gras Stakes under James Graham.
A winner the time before of the Battle of New Orleans Stakes, five-year-old Rapid Rhythm showed guts aplenty to prevail in the $75,000 race. Stidham assistant and barn-mainstay Hilary Pridham was afterwards understandable delighted.
“She’s so special,” she said. “She knows where the wire is and she really wants to win. She’s so professional and she shows up every race and guarantees she’s going to give you her best.”
Rapid Rhythm wasn’t the only winner for the Stidham barn during a fine few days.
Tiznoble made it four wins from six starts on Saturday for the Dare to Dream Stable. This quality individual showed that he has the heart to match the looks when sticking to his guns resolutely under Mitchell Murrill in a decent race at Fair Grounds.
Stake races are surely within his grasp.
On Monday, Speedway Stables’ Determined broke his maiden under jockey Deshawn Parker, with another battling victory at Sam Houston.
The Stidham warriors sure don’t give up easy without a fight!
