Pin Oak Stable’s Synchrony proved a superb winner of the GIII Fair Grounds Handicap, Saturday, running away with the contest under a perfectly-timed Joe Bravo ride!
This five year-old Tapit colt has always shown himself to be a talented and consistent individual, but this win in the $150,000 race proves once and for all that he’s a worthy black-type competitor. After a little rough-housing at the start of the race, Bravo found his mount a nice position. Then, down the straight, the two forged clear, to take the race by an easier-than-it-looked two lengths!
Yesterday, the stable maintained its fine form down at Tampa Bay Downs, when Mark Breen’s Birdsnest Party ran out a nice winner under Brian Pedroza, leading all the way to win by half-a-length.
Yesterday, I got the chance to speak with Stidham about his thoughts on the meeting so far, at Fair Grounds. Here’s what he said:
“We were delighted with Synchrony’s win over the weekend,” he said. “Especially after a lay-off. And it’s great for the owners, who have been so supportive of us.”
“Overall, we’ve made a great start to the year. Plenty of winners, and plenty of nice winners, like Synchrony. Hopefully, we’ll keep building on that. And we’re really looking forward to getting the two-year-olds in. We’ve got a great bunch this year.”
