The unbeaten Tasting the Stars was an impressive winner today at Fair Grounds for owners Newtown Anner Stud, setting up nicely a potentially lucrative weekend of action for the Stidham stable!
A 3-year-old daughter of Bodemeister, Tasting the Stars won by 4 lengths under Shaun Bridgmohan (could have been much more), and it would be no surprise to see her stepped up in class for her next assignment. Exciting times ahead, that’s for sure!
The results from Tampa Bay this afternoon will be posted Monday.
As for this weekend, Cypress Point and Elsa are the stable’s representatives in tomorrow’s $60,000 Shantel Lanerie Memorial Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds. Six runners go to post.
Elsa, drawn 6, is the slightly more fancied of the two (at 2-1 on the Morning Line) – she has jockey Corey Lanerie on board. Mitchell Murrill steers Cypress Point, the 8-1 shot, and they’re drawn 5.
Over at Tampa Bay, Sweet Diane is drawn 9 of 9 in the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes. She enjoys the services of Antonio A. Gallardo in the saddle, and is a 3-1 shot on the early Morning Line.
