Fast improving The Last Zip is the stable’s leading big race representative this weekend, when he lines up in the GIII American Derby at Arlington tomorrow. But he’s far from the only stake race runner this weekend for the barn!
On Sunday at Monmouth Park, Missmizz is drawn 3 of 7 in the $75,000 Blue Sparkler Stakes, with Paco Lopez on board. Missmiss is a 7-2 shot in the 5 1/2 furlong race on the turf.
Two races later, Credit Swap is drawn 4 of 9 in the $75,000 My Frenchmen Stakes, a 5 1/2 furlong sprint on the turf. A 5/2 shot on the Morning Line, Credit Swap enjoys the services of jockey Jomar Torres.
As for The Last Zip (with Drayden Van Dyke on board), he’s drawn 9 of 13 in the $150,000 turf race over 1 1/16th miles. The duo are a 6-1 shot on the Morning Line.
And now for some recent winners, including Peter Redekop’s Able to Smile, a 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, who showed guts and tenacity under jockey J. D. Acosta to break her maiden yesterday at Delaware Park.
Last Saturday, Bangle Gal, owned by It’s All About The Girls Stable, won her second race in a row quite stylishly at Belmont Park under jockey Manuel Franco. This 3-year-old daughter of Emcee looks set for another step back up in class.
