Weekend update

If idle hands do the devil’s work, then Mike Stidham should be half-way to sainthood after this weekend as he prepares to saddle no less than nine runners over the next three days – all at Fair Grounds.

On Friday, he sends What Bunker and Pica into the fray. Then on Saturday, it’s the turn of Local One Thirty, Ronson, In Kelly’s Defense, Curlin’s Queen and Cautiouslyoptimistc to fly the Stidham flag. Rounding off the weekend are Ground Transport and Brown Almighty who both run Sunday.

Brown Almighty is a particularly interesting runner. This four-year-old colt by Big Brown has been highly tried throughout his career, only to see his form trail off towards the end of last year. On his first start for Stidham, however, in the Woodchopper Stakes at Fair Grounds last November, he showed more of his old jest to finish third. Dropped into an easier spot this time, he’s one to keep a beady eye on.

Check back in again next week for all the news on the weekend runners.
