Looking ahead to the next few days, Mike Stidham might lack the headline acts of previous weekends, but he still has a handful of interesting contenders to go to war with, a number of whom have already run fine races at Fair Grounds this winter meet.
Today, Gleam of Hope and Jenny June are both up for action, and both have already enjoyed placed-runs during their Louisiana sojourn. Tomorrow, a hat-trick of runners comprise In Kelly’s Defense, What Bunker and In Tall Cotton. While Sunday, Merry Mike And Liz Pendens bid for glory.
Before signing off, an honorable mention has to go to La Bruna Forte, who went down fighting yesterday in her bid to break her maiden. Not gifted with the cleanest of runs, La Bruna Forte overcame a Nascar-race-full of bumping and scrimmaging to make a valiant run for victory at the top of the stretch, going down in defeat by only three quarters of a length at the wire, Richard Eramia in the pilot’s seat. This was only La Bruna Forte’s third racecourse appearance, and judging by yesterday’s efforts, she looks nailed on to win one soon.
Check back in again next week for all the news of the weekend action.
