Mike Stidham might have only four arrows to his bow this weekend, but two of them are pointed towards nice stake races at Fair Grounds and Laurel Park.
First up is Ground Transport who goes for broke in the Harrison E. Johnson Memorial Stakes at Laurel Park – a $100,000 race over one mile and one eighth. Ground Transport faces seven other rivals and jockey Trevor McCarthy takes the mount.
Over at Fair Grounds, I Dazzle takes her place in the Red Camelia Stakes, worth $60,000. Now six, I Dazzle has already proven herself capable of very smart form, having won a minor stake at Santa Anita last year before being placed in a Grade II. I Dazzle won on her debut for Stidham earlier this month, and the morning line chalk her up as the favorite against nine other rivals. Jockey Robbie Albarado takes the mount.
Today, Follow the Kitten lines up at Fair Grounds, while on Sunday it’s the turn of Local One Thirty.
Check back in again next week for all the weekend news.
