Stellaris out of this world

Mike Stidham looks to have another nice young filly on his hands after Stellaris romped to victory at Keeneland over the weekend.

Settled onto the heels of the leaders through much of the race, Stellaris was brought with a run by James Graham at the top of the stretch. She stuck to her task in determined fashion to run out a relatively comfortable 1 3/4 length winner from a field of maidens that is sure to contain more than its fair share of future winners.

This was only a second racecourse appearance for the three-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday – she finished third on her debut at Fair Grounds a month prior. Lightly raced and clearly on the rapid upgrade, Stellaris is yet another exciting string to Stidham’s bow with Arlington just around the corner.

Looking at the week ahead, Stidham has La Bruna Forte entered Thursday at Keeneland.

Check back in again later this week for a look at the weekend runners.
