Zipessa zips to graded stakes victory!

Zipessa made this fourth of July an unforgettable one for the Stidham stable when she landed the $200,000 Grade III Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes at Parx Racing!

Under an inspired Florent Geroux ride, Zipessa was sent straight to the lead, and there she stayed, gradually winding up the tempo around the turn and down the stretch to pass the post two lengths too good – and a fabulous result for owners Empyrean Stables.

This was Zipessa’s fourth victory in total, and her first in graded stakes company. But this four-year-old daughter of City Zip has run admirable races in defeat in graded stakes during her last two starts, and she’s more than deserving of a great win that puts her life-time earnings up over the $227,000 mark.

The Stidham stable enjoyed an across the card double today, when the six-year-old Heart Stopper won his second race of the year for Michael Faber’s Dare to Dream Stable, hammering out a hard-fought victory at Arlington under jockey Carlos Montalvo.
