Sunday double delight!

Another great weekend for the Stidham stable sees the barn consolidate its lead at the head of the trainer’s table at Arlington in terms of money won. Stidham (with 33 wins on the board) is now roughly $70,000 ahead of Larry Rivelli, his nearest pursuer.

Yesterday was a real hum-dinger for the barn. Zunino got the ball rolling with a fine win on his racecourse debut, recovering nicely after a faltering start out of the gates to work his way into contention down the stretch, finally delivering the goods on the cusp of the line under jockey Mitchell Murrill.

“We are delighted to get our first win for Godolphin,” said Stidham, about the two-year-old Elusive Quality colt’s owners. “We’re humbled by the opportunity that they’ve given us with this team of well-bred and talented youngsters.”

Stidham and Murrill followed up in the next race with a nice win by Socialized for Seajay Racing. Under a patient Murrill, Socialized was delivered down the home stretch to win going away. This marked a welcome return to the winner’s enclosure for the four-year-old City Zip filly.
