More stakes success?

With Euroboss lining up in the GIII Whimsical Stakes tomorrow, Mike Stidham’s bidding for another stake winner at Woodbine to accompany R Naja’s rousing victory last weekend in the Star Shoot Stakes.

Synchrony also lines up in the Henry S. Clark Stakes at Laurel Park, but before delving into Stidham’s weekend runners, let’s take a look at a couple of nice victors from the week just gone.

Desert Duchess was a good winner at Aqueduct on Thursday for Mt. Brilliant Farm, digging deep under Mitchell Murrill to prevail by half-a-length.

On the same day, You’re Welcome ran out a much easier winner over at Hawthorne, drawing clear under Edgar Perez to break her maiden for owners Pin Oak Stable in fine style.

And now to this weekend!

Synchrony faces 11 other runners in the Henry S. Clark Stakes at Laurel Park, under Mitchell Murrill. A three time winner, this four-year-old colt by Tapit is already stakes placed, having finished third in the GIII Lexington and Smarty Jones Stakes last year. And he’s an 8-1 shot on the Morning Line to prevail today.

Euroboss, however, is bidding for her first slice of black type when she faces seven other runners in tomorrow’s $125,000 GIII Whimsical Stakes at Woodbine. Tough and talented, Euroboss is a 10-1 shot on the Morning Line to clinch the race under jockey Luis Contreras.
