Zipessa aiming high!
Few horses in training are as tough, and honest, and consistent as the Stidham stable flag-bearer Zipessa, and tomorrow, she’s aiming for the top once again as one of seven scheduled to line up in the $400,000 GI First Lady Stakes at Keeneland.
This mile race on the turf will be Zipessa’s sixth race of the year, each time turning up in hotly-contested graded stakes against some of the very finest horses around. Each time, however, she’s run with great credit and honor, and with Joe Bravo on board, Zipessa’s a 10-1 shot to this time land the spoils. Should she do so, no horse would be more deserving.
At Santa Anita on Monday, the exciting Moon Dash is a possible in the $100,000 Surfer Girl Stakes. This two-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon is one-for-one in her short career thus far, but is far from certain to line up in this mile race on the turf.
Here’s a look at the rest of the weekend entries:
Saturday

Delavie – Race 1, Maiden Claiming $12,500
Speeding Starlet – Race 5, Maiden Special Weight
Stellar Moon – Race 5, Maiden Special Weight

And now, while the Stidham stable continues to settle into its temporary digs at Keeneland (to capitalize on the Kentucky track’s thrilling fall meet), here’s a look at what a couple of stable stars are up to:
Proforma – a possible in the $100,000 English Channel Stakes at Gulfstream Park on October 22
Rapid Rhythm – this wonderful servant to the stable has enjoyed a fantastic summer holiday, but is back in the barn again, getting ready for another (hopefully!) scintillating winter at New Orleans, where she won three stake races in a row during their last meet!
