Breeders’ Cup awaits!

What has already been a banner year for the Stidham stable could turn into an out of this world one if the barn walks away from this year’s Breeders’ Cup with a victory or two!

And with the big weekend just around the corner, what better time to look at the chances of the two stables stars!

The twice raced Moon Dash has drawn 14 of 14 in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, over a mile on the turf. As expected, it’s going to be a tough one for the two-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon, a game runner-up last time out in the Surfer Girl Stakes. But with Mike Smith in the saddle, she couldn’t have any better guide for the big event, and at 15’s, she appears to be over-looked!

One day later, it’s the turn of Zipessa in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Fillies and Mares Turf, over a mile and an eighth. This wonderful mare had already been a grand old servant to the stable even before she won the GI First Lady Stakes at Keeneland last time out.

This time, she’s drawn 4 of fourteen, and has the able services of jockey Joe Bravo. Tough isn’t the word, however, when looking at the race – the fact that one of the finest turf horses in the country is a 20-1 shot for the race exemplifies just how tough. One thing’s for sure, she won’t lack any in guts and grit.

We’ll be joining you on Friday for a review of the day’s action, and a look ahead at the weekend. Before then, we’ll leave you with the sole entrant this week:
