Swope swipes for Godolphin!
Big weekend for the Stidham barn, with not one, not two, but three live shots in richly-endowed graded stake races at Kentucky Downs, and with Superioritycomplex looking to fly the flag proudly at Woodbine. Show me the money, as they say!
First up is Hallie Belle in the $500,000 GIII Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes, in which she’s drawn 7 of 10. Joe Bravo takes the ride on the 8-1 shot, and this talented filly is looking for her second stakes victory of the year after her win in the Dahlia Stakes back in April.
The exciting Noted and Quoted is drawn 4 of 10 one race later in the $450,000 GIII Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint Stakes, Robby Albarado on board. A 15-1 shot, Noted and Quoted made a good debut for the stable last time out, and if she gets back to anywhere near her best, she stands a fine chance of at least getting close.
One race after that, Proforma lines up 2 of 12 in the $500,000 GIII Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint Stakes, Joe Bravo the man in the driving seat. A dual stakes winner, Proforma is a 20-1 shot to land his first victory this year after a couple of admirable efforts in pretty tough races.
At Woodbine on Sunday, recent scorer Superioritycomplex lines up 5 of 7 in the $100,000 Belle Mahone Stakes. Luis Contreras takes the mount on the 4-1 shot, and a win would see the Hard Spun filly remain undefeated in North America.
As to the week just gone, Swope proved the latest Stidham stable debutant to score impressively, this time showing no inconsiderable talent to overcome greenness, winning decisively under Pablo Morales at Presque Isle Downs for the boys in blue, Godolphin. The future looks bright indeed for this 2-year-old Super Saver colt.
