Zip to Grade One glory?

The Last Zip represents the Stidham stable in tomorrow G1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington – a contest worth a cool $500,000. Who would turn their noses up at that!

But before we take a good look at The Last Zip’s chances in tomorrow’s big race, let’s look back to yesterday’s card at Colonial Downs, and a stunning winner for team Stidham by the name of Embolden.

This 2-year-old son of The Factor ran away with his maiden in striking fashion, passing the post under Paco Lopez 10 lengths too good for the rest. Owners the Dare to Dream Stable sure look like they’ve another talented individual to look forward to in the months and years ahead.

And now to the Secretariat Stakes, over a mile on the turf. The Last Zip is drawn 4 of 9, and is a 6-1 shot on the Morning Line. He’ll be ridden by Adam Beschizza, who partnered the City Zip colt to a second place finish in the G3 American Derby last time out.

At Saratoga on Sunday, Missmizz (8-1 on the Morning Line) is drawn 4 and Elsa (10-1) is drawn 7 in the 10-runner $100,000 Galway Stakes. Missmizz enjoys the services of Tyler Gaffalione in the saddle, while Elsa will be ridden by Jose Lezcano, and both go into the race in good form at home, as per the stable.
