Four-timer!
Not a few days after reaching his 2000th individual victory as a trainer, Mike sent out four fantastic winners on Saturday, topped by Alm’s stunning victory in the G3 Jimmy Durante Stakes at Del Mar.
Given a peach of a ride by Paco Lopez, the Godolphin-owned Alms won the $100,000 race quite impressively in the end. This 2-year-old daughter of City Zip is now 3-for-3. She won the G3 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park last time out. And the world certainly appears to be her oyster!
She wasn’t the only stable winner on Saturday, though – not with a fabulous three-timer over at Fair Grounds!
The DARRS Inc. owned Tackett showed real guts under Shaun Bridgmohan to bring his win-card to 3-from-5 on his first run back from a long break. Don’t be surprised to see this tough gelding stepped back up in class at some point soon.
Stallionaire Enterprises’ The Last Zip got back into his winning groove when winning a shade cozily under Adam Beschizza, while Mt Brilliant Farm’s 2-year-old filly, Ursula, showed she’s a filly of no inconsiderable potential, when streaking home to break her maiden under Mitchell Murrill.
