Awesome Alms!

Godolphin’s Alms maintained her steep ascent up the ranks on Saturday, when running off with the $60,000 Shantel Lanerie Memorial Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds.

“She’s starting to look very special, isn’t she,” said Mike Stidham, about the 3-year-old City Zip filly. Wide early on, jockey Paco Lopez managed to slot her into position before making a decisive move at the quarter-pole. “That turn of foot is devastating,” Stidham added.

This win made it a career 4-from-4. After breaking her maiden, Alms landed a G3 double-header, taking in both the Matron Stakes and the Jimmy Durante Stakes. With this nice confidence booster under her belt, Alms is likely to face tougher assignments sooner rather than later.

Alms wasn’t the only Stidham winner over the weekend. DARRS Inc’s Dynaform landed his second career victory at Fair Grounds yesterday, showing a tough and willing attitude under Colby Hernandez.
