Big weekend!

Fans of the Stidham stable have a mouthwatering weekend of action to devour, with big race runners galore. But before we get to that, let’s look back at the week just gone and a nice winner Wednesday for Highlander Training Center at Tampa Bay Downs.

Bronx Rumble, a 3-year-old colt by Chitu, was very impressive indeed when breaking his maiden under Pablo Morales. He’s certainly one to keep an eye on over the months ahead.

As for the weekend ahead, let’s start with Fair Grounds today, and Powell is drawn 4 of 9 in the $100,000 Colonel Power Stakes, a turf sprint over 5 1/2 furlongs. Mitchell Murrill takes the mount on the 8-1 shot.

Flower Party (drawn 1) and Elsa (drawn 6) are two of 14 runners in the $100,000 Albert M. Stall Memorial Stakes, a turf race over 1 1/16th miles. Shaun Bridgmohan and Brian Hernandez take the mounts on the 30-1 and 15-1 shots, respectively.

The grand old warrior Synchrony is drawn 2 of 10 runners in the G3 $150,000 Fair Grounds Stakes, over 1 1/8th miles on the turf. Joe Bravo takes the mount. Synchrony has won the race the last two years running, and is a 3-1 shot to maintain that winning thread.

Finally, Ursula is drawn 2 of 7 in the $300,000 G2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes, over 1 1/16th miles. Brian Hernandez takes the mount on the 8-1 shot.

Over at Laurel Park, the exciting Albert Park is drawn 5 of 8 runners in the $100,000 Miracle Wood Stakes over a mile. Jose Lezcano takes the mount on the 7-2 Morning Line shot.

Then, Saguaro Row is drawn 2 of 6 in the $250,000 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie Stakes, over seven furlongs. Again, Lezcano takes the ride on the runner who is a 9-5 shot on the Morning Line.
