Barleewon Won
The Stidham stable enjoyed a welcome winner when Elise Sacks and Barry Golden’s Barleewon pulverized the competition today at Belmont Park.
Given a nice ride by John Velazquez, Barleewon pulled away down the stretch to win by nearly 5 lengths. With a maiden win under his belt, this 3-year-old son of Animal Kingdom can progress again.
And now for the weekend, and a couple very interesting stakes contenders indeed.
Tomorrow at Churchill Downs, Micheline is drawn 6 of 13 in the $100,000 G3 Regret Stakes, a turf race over 1 1/8th miles. Joe Bravo rides this multiple stakes winner (she won the Honey Ryder Stakes last time out), and they’re an 8-1 shot on the Morning Line.
Over at Thistledown, Established is drawn 12 of 15 in the $500,000 G3 Ohio Derby, over 1 1/8th miles. Mitchell Murrill takes the mount on the twice runner-up maiden, and they’re a 30-1 shot.
