A week to remember!
This truly has been a week to remember for the Stidham stable, with a triumvirate of fine wins including a stakes victory at Colonial Downs Wednesday.
DARRS Inc.’s Guillame was a debut winner of the $40,000 Hansel Stakes at Colonial Downs under a perfectly judged ride by Trevor McCarthy. This 2-year-old son of Hard Spun couldn’t have delivered a more professional performance on his first ever appearance on the track of an afternoon.
That same afternoon, Phoenix Thoroughbred’s 3-year-old Candy Ride colt Branco Maria was another to break his duck, running away with a competitive Maiden Special Weight in the hands of McCarthy. With this nice victory under his belt, Branco Maria could be one to follow in the coming months.
The next day at the same track, the wonderfully named Big Hambone (owned, like Guillame, by DARRS Inc.) won really nicely on his first start for the barn. Once again, McCarthy was the man doing the steering.
