Flying high at the Pegasus!
Tomorrow at Gulfstream Park, the marvellous Pixelate is seeking a $1 million payday in the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes.
But before we take a look at his prospects, let’s turn our sights to yesterday at Sam Houston, and a lovely win for Via Angelica on her first start for the barn.
Owned by Ward and Roberta Williford, Via Angelica was given a sweet ride by Ry Eikleberry, pouncing in the straight to win by a little less than a length. Placed well by the trainer to break her maiden, Via Angelica will undoubtedly come on some for the win, and it’ll be interesting to see where she runs next.
One horse who has more than earned his oats over the years is Pixelate, winner of last year’s G2 Del Mar Derby. In tomorrow’s richly-endowed Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes, over 1 3/16th miles, Pixelate is drawn 10 of 12. Edgard Zayas takes the mount on the 15-1 shot on the Morning Line.
