Mystic Guide back!
This weekend stars the return to action of the majorly talented Mystic Guide in the G3 Razorback Handicap tomorrow at Oaklawn Park.
But before we take a look at his chances in the $600,000 contest, let’s look back at a couple nice winners for the yard this week.
On Wednesday at Sam Houston, Audrey Otto’s Kobla Mas was a decisive winner under Lane Luzzi, produced late in the race before quickly drawing away to win by four lengths. This 3-year-old More Than Ready colt is clearly improving, and looks to have plenty more wins before him in the right grade.
Yesterday at Fair Grounds, Marc Winston’s Killer Dress sizzled under Mitchell Murrill to claim her second career victory in tidy fashion. This 3-year-old daughter of Carpe Diem has struggled a little since her debut win last October, but this race was much more like her true running, and her trainer will no doubt place her well as she progresses.
As for the weekend action, all eyes will be trained on Mystic Guide, a winner last year of the G2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga, who’s drawn wide of 7 in the Razorback, run over 1 1/16th miles. Last seen when finishing a good second in the GI Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont, Mystic Guide is a 9/5 shot to prevail on his seasonal debut under Luis Saez.
