Marvelous Micheline!
As fans of the stable are already no doubt aware, this past weekend was one for the memory books!
That, of course, is due to the resounding performance of the Godolphin-owned Micheline in the $225,000 G2 Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on her seasonal return.
Given a smashing ride by Luis Saez (who’s riding out of his skin at present), Micheline really delivered down the home stretch, coming with a sustained rattle to win by a going-away 1 3/4 lengths.
This 4-year-old daughter of Bernardini has been nothing short of sensational during her career, dancing every dance. But given the way she disposed of a tidy field Saturday, it appears she might have improved yet again. With her career earnings already at the $665,978 mark, it’ll be exciting to see where she’s produced next.
“I couldn’t be happier with the way the year has started,” said Stidham, about Micheline’s victory, which follows hot on the heels of Mystic Guide’s recent jaw-dropping win in the G3 Razorback Handicap.
“I keep saying it because I mean it, but none of these great days would be possible without the support of a world class team of staff and owners,” he added. “Makes my job so much easier.”
Micheline wasn’t the only winner for the stable over the weekend. Vintage Thoroughbreds and Bradley Thoroughbreds’ Alba’s Star garnered her second career victory Saturday at Sam Houston, when running out a tenacious winner under Reylu Gutierrez.
