Big weekend!!

Oh boy,  could this be a weekend to savor for fans of the Stidham stable!

But before we examine the plethora of big race weekend action on offer, let’s put our hands together for a timely winner today at Fair Grounds, thanks to Feel the Thunder Stable’s Smiling Silas, who broke his maiden in eye-catching fashion under Mitchell Murrill.

Lightly raced, Smiling Silas looks the sort to step up from here, especially with a nice confidence boost under his belt.

And now for the weekend action!

Let’s start with Fair Grounds tomorrow, and the supremely talented Roadster’s return to action after a year off (while having his first start for the barn) in the $400,000 G2 New Orleans Classic Stakes, over 1 1/8th miles. Drawn on the inside in a field of 8, Roadster is a 3-1 shot with Johnny Velazquez on board.

Next up is Pixelate, who’s drawn on the outside of a field of 12 in the $300,000 G2 Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes, a 1 1/8th turf race. Luis Saez takes the mount on this multiple stakes winner, who’s a Morning Line 8-1 shot.

Then it’s the turn of Derby hopeful Proxy, who’s aiming to stamp his classic credentials with another resounding performance in the $1 million G2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby, over 1 1/16th miles. Velazquez is aboard the 7-2 shot, who’s drawn 4 of 8.

Over at Sam Houston tomorrow, the super consistent Singapore Flash is seeking a first bit of black type in the $100,000 Richard King Turf Stakes, over 1 1/8th miles on the turf. Ry Eikleberry takes the ride on the 9-2 shot, who’s drawn 4 of 9.
