Weekend update
While the eyes of the nation are focused on Churchill Downs this weekend, the Stidham stable has runners spread between Arlington and Belmont Park.
Any victories over the weekend would add to the week’s tally that started with a lovely win for Speedway Stables’ Auberge, a well-bred daughter of Palace who won tidily on Monday at Indiana grand.
Given a nice ride by Marcelino Pedroza, Auberge stalked the pace before launching an irresistible stretch run, passing the post 3/4 of a length too good. This was a nice return to form for Auberge, who was having only her second start for the stable. With a bit of black type already to her name (she was second last year in the G2 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita), it’ll be exciting to see where Auberge reappears.
