Eclipse Finalist!

What a wonderful weekend for the Stidham barn – one of our stable stars has been named an Eclipse Award finalist, and one of his compatriots broke his maiden in good fashion over at Gulfstream Park.

Mystic Guide, who in March won the latest iteration of the G1 Dubai World Cup for owners Godolphin, has been named an Eclipse Award finalist in the category of Older Dirt Male, against the likes of G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, Knicks Go, and the Godolphin owned Maxfield.

To be in the running for an Eclipse Award is a “tremendous honor,” said Stidham.

“It’s so rewarding for the horse, for Godolphin who have been so supportive of us and him over the years, and for the staff themselves who have worked so hard for this,” Stidham said. “It’s a fitting tribute to this great horse.”

The winners will be announced at the Eclipse Award ceremony at Santa Anita Feb. 10.

Elsewhere, on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, Dare to Dream Stable’s Solar Tap broke his maiden in nice style under a good ride by Luis Saez. Afterwards, however, Solar Tap was claimed out of the yard.

And here’s a look at the week’s entries:
