Catching Up!

A lot has happened since the last Stidham racing update, not least of all the retirement news regarding one of the stable’s brightest stars, Mystic Guide.

Last week, the colt’s owners, Godolphin, announced that due to a soft tissue injury, Mystic Guide was headed to Jonabell Farm, where he will stand the 2023 breeding season.

He does so the winner of four races during his illustrious career, including the 2021 GI Dubai World Cup, the GII Jim Dandy Stakes in 2020 and last year’s GIII Razorback Handicap. In all, the son of Ghostzapper accrued more than $7.5 million in earnings.

“Horses of Mystic Guide’s caliber just don’t come along too often,” Mike said, about his stable star. “To win the Dubai World Cup for Godolphin was obviously a special moment for me and my team and one that I’ll always remember. I’m sure the next chapter in his life will be equally as exciting.”

While Mystic Guide’s career on the track is now over, it is still going strong for another Stidham runner, Wild America, who claimed her second victory Saturday at Hawthorne.

This 4-year-old daughter of American Pharoah led the pack a merry dance all the way before passing the post by some 2 1/4 lengths, enhancing her paddock value nicely for owners Phoenix Thoroughbred.
